School Policies

At Birla Open Minds International School, Daltonganj, we strive to create an environment of discipline, respect, and academic excellence. Our policies are designed to ensure the well-being of students and maintain the high standards of our institution. Please read and adhere to the following guidelines:


📌 School Day and Attendance

  • The school day begins with a prayer at the assembly. Students must be present at the assembly, lining up immediately when the first bell rings. After the assembly, they will proceed to their classrooms in silence.
  • Compulsory Attendance: Students must be present on the first and last day of the school year.
  • 75% attendance is compulsory for all students.
  • If a student is unable to attend due to illness, parents must inform the school within two days, not when the student returns.
  • If a student is absent for more than two days due to illness, a medical certificate and prescription must be submitted to the school authorities.
  • All absences and late arrivals must be recorded with a valid reason in the school’s regularity record. Private reasons may be communicated via a letter.
  • Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience, or behavior that negatively impacts the school’s moral climate will be dealt with strictly.
  • Stealing or using unfair means during tests or exams is strictly prohibited.

📌 Fee Payment Policy

  • Quarterly fee (school & bus) clearance is mandatory to receive the admit card before tests and exams.
  • If school and bus fees are not cleared for 6 months, it may result in the cancellation of the student’s enrollment.
  • School fees must be paid via bank or the online gateway system.
  • No fees will be accepted in school.

📌 Language and Behavior

  • English must be spoken at all times within the school premises, on the school bus, and, wherever possible, at home.
  • Students must behave courteously and respectfully towards teachers, staff, and peers at all times.
  • Disrespectful behavior is not tolerated.
  • Politeness, kindness, and friendliness should prevail among students.

📌 Classroom and Breaktime

  • Students are not allowed to remain in classrooms during breaks or games periods, unless it is raining.
  • Students must obtain permission from the teacher before leaving the playground.
  • Nail polish, chewing gum, and any other distractions are not allowed in school.
  • Students are responsible for taking care of their books and belongings. All personal items should be clearly labeled with their name.
  • Breakable items like glass bottles should not be brought to school.

📌 Personal Belongings and School Property

  • Valuable items, including money and jewelry, should not be brought to school.
  • The school is not responsible for any loss of personal items.
  • Any damage to school property must be repaired or compensated by the responsible student.
  • No collections or ticket sales for any purpose are allowed without written permission from the Principal.

📌 Uniform and Grooming

  • Students must attend school in full uniform.
  • They should be clean and neat, with properly combed hair.
  • Silence must be observed while changing classrooms or between periods.

📌 General Conduct

  • Students must address teachers and staff members with the utmost respect and politeness.
  • Parents and visitors are not allowed to meet teachers during class hours unless prior permission is granted through the student’s diary.
  • Parents should not visit their child’s classroom during school hours as it disrupts the class discipline.
  • Early Dismissal: No student will be allowed to leave the school during class hours without a written request from the parents.

📌 Prohibited Items and Activities

  • Mobile phones, cameras, and other electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited in the school.

📌 Leave Policy

  • Absence from school will not be permitted for reasons such as birthdays, weddings, feasts, excursions, or extending school vacations. The only exceptions are for valid medical reasons.
  • Pupils are expected to attend school regularly and should not be absent for private or non-school-related matters.

📢 If any changes occur in the school policies, parents will be informed in advance by the school office.
