At Birla Open Minds International School, Daltonganj, we believe in a comprehensive evaluation system that fosters academic excellence, discipline, and consistent progress. Our assessment structure ensures that students are regularly monitored and guided towards their best performance.


Assessment & Class Tests

📌 Regular class tests are conducted in all subjects to assess students’ understanding and performance.
📌 Every Saturday, a class test is conducted to ensure continuous evaluation. These marks contribute to the final result.
📌 Two Unit Tests are taken in an academic year, and their scores are added to the final result, along with Saturday test marks.
📌 Teachers record students’ progress in the School Diary, keeping parents informed about their conduct, efforts, and academic growth.
📌 Homework and classwork copies also carry marks, encouraging students to maintain discipline in their daily studies.


Examination Structure

Students are assessed through Two Examinations and Two Unit Tests during the academic year:

📅 First Terminal Examination – September
📅 Final Examination – March

💡 Unit Tests are conducted periodically to evaluate consistent learning and retention.


Promotion & Eligibility Criteria

✔️ Students must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each subject to qualify for promotion.
✔️ A minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory for eligibility for promotion or the ICSE Examination.

🚨 Students who fail to secure at least 40% in any subject will not be promoted.


Important Examination Rules

✔️ All students must appear for Tests and Examinations. No private examinations are allowed.
✔️ Use of unfair means (cheating) leads to immediate disqualification from promotion.
✔️ Missed Examinations: Students cannot retake missed exams. If absence is justified (due to illness), it will be considered during final promotion.
✔️ Health & Well-being: Parents are advised not to send children for exams if they are ill or recovering.


Answer Paper Policy

Unit Test & First Terminal Exam answer sheets will be shown to parents.
Annual Examination papers will not be shown to parents, guardians, or private tutors under any circumstances.

The final result is based on a holistic evaluation of students’ performance throughout the academic year. This includes:
